Abstract

This paper proposes a model for predicting the mechanical properties of composite materials based on their structural features at the nanoscale. The computer model considers not only the content, but also the predominant orientation of the filler in the rule of mixtures and the Halpin–Tsai equation. The predominant orientation of the filler is maintained by restricting the orientation angles of randomly arranged nanotubes.
