Abstract

An analysis of the historical and philosophical aspects of the formation and development of mathematics was carried out in close connection with the maximum and minimum problems, which have their origins in ancient times and arise from the practical needs of human activity. The contribution of mathematician scientists who were interested, researched and found new methods of solving problems for the maximum and minimum is characterized. Attention is drawn to the peculiarity of such problems in geometry and their importance both for mathematics itself and its application
